This week I have been showing my hair lots of love. I did a detox and a deep conditioned my hair with ingredients from my kitchen. Yes you heard right. I like making this deep conditioner because its all natural, makes my hair feel extra soft and I know exactly what's in it.
Ingredients
Mayonnaise, avocado, egg, honey, olive oil, aloe vera, Castor oil and rosemary oil.
Things you will need
Towel, bowl (for mixing), treatment cap, basin, spoon and knife.
Recipe
This is not set in stone, you may adjust to suit your need. If you want the conditioner to be thicker then you will need to use less aloe, more mayonnaise and maybe 2 avocado. Please note that you can eliminate some of the ingredients. I would say the key ingredients are egg, mayonnaise, avocado, honey, and the rosemary oil.
1 egg, 1 avocado the softer the better (depending on the length of your hair and the thickness of the conditioner), 4 to 5 tablespoon of mayonnaise, 4 to 5 tablespoon of honey, 2 tablespoon of olive oil, a piece of avocado, 2 tablespoon of Castor oil and 3 drops of rosemary oil (to remove the raw smell from the egg).
Preparation
- Cut the avocado in half and remove the seed. Use a spoon to take out the inside. Put it in the bowl and mash if it is not over ripe.
- Add mayo and egg and mix all three together.
- Then, add honey, olive oil, Castor oil and aloe. To get the aloe from the skin, peel off the skin on one side and use a knife to scrape the inside into the bowl. It will look slimy but it is okay.
- Finally, mix everything together.
You may make this in a blender to get it creamy but I think too much gets wasted so, I prefer making it by hand.
Application
Section hair and apply mixture from root to tip.
I suggest doing this over a large basin as it can be a bit messy. When you have applied the mixture to your entire hair, put a treatment cap on for 30 to 40 minutes. You'll need to add a towel to prevent leakage.
To fasten the towel twirl until it gets tight and them tuck it under in the front.
30 to 40 minutes after
Rinse with cold water, towel dry and twist, interlock or style as desired.
